Vision
Since 2011, Bay City has proudly been a Nationally Recognized Main Street City. Our vision is for downtown Bay City to be the heartbeat of the County, reflecting historic pride, economic growth, and the best of Texas hospitality. Our primary goal is to revitalize the Downtown Historic Business District, and our dedicated Main Street Director and Advisory Board actively support this mission. We advocate for suitable ordinances and sponsor various community projects and events to promote the district’s unique charm.
Historic Districts
The Bay City Historic Commission oversees the historic component of our program. With two historic districts—the Downtown Historic District and the South Side Historic District—we offer restoration and renovation assistance to both business and homeowners, preserving the rich legacy of Bay City for generations to come.

Design Initiatives: Providing restoration assistance to preserve and enhance the architectural heritage of the downtown district.

Economic Vitality: Sharing financial information and aid to support local businesses and attract new economic opportunities.

Organization: Building partnerships among stakeholders, including merchants, property owners, public agencies, and community organizations, to unify efforts toward common revitalization goals.

Promotion: Developing inventive ideas and coordinating promotional activities to attract visitors and foster community engagement.
The manager also plays a crucial role in organizing events such as the Bay City Wild Game
& Wine Camofest, which celebrates local heritage and stimulates economic activity in the downtown area, and ensuring downtown areas remain vibrant and sustainable for future generations. Through these efforts, the Main Street Manager aims to position downtown Bay City as the vibrant heart of Matagorda County, reflecting the best of Texas hospitality.
